How to Use an Internet Dongle

Some people never heard of dongles, let alone know how to use an Internet dongle. If you are one of those people, you have visited the right blog post. Today we will walk you through the basic steps to connect your dongle to your computer so that you can start surfing the Internet.

Most dongles come with software. When you buy your dongle, you simply install the software program to your computer. Once the installation process is completed, you may start using your Internet. The dongle is a USB device that is inserted into your PCs USB port. Some dongles install its own software once you plug it into the port, so you are free to wait a few minutes during the installation.

Some dongles however, you must install the software first. Before you connect your dongle to a port on your PC, you must load the software (Bytescribe), since drivers are needed to use the dongle. To install, simply load your software. Plug your dongle into a USB port on your PC. If you remove the dongle, it will remove your registration, so leave the dongle in place.

If a popup displays on your window, and says “Found New Hardware Wizard,” click on this to install the program automatically. This is the recommended method of installing your dongle. There may be a message that says “Update Windows.” Do not click Yes, instead choose NO. Once your computer restarts, if a message “Found New Hardware” appears, choose install automatically.

If you have a DVAP dongle or the D-Star device, once you plug in your dongle simply follow the same instructions. Any dongle you purchase comes with instruction manual, software program, and other technical scripts to help you install.

It is recommended that you follow the instructions provided with your dongle. It only takes a few minutes of your time to complete the installation process and you may begin using your dongle at leisure. Again, some dongles come with preinstalled programs, which means as soon as you connect the dongle to the USB port, the program installs automatically. In this case, you do nothing but wait the few minutes for the installation to complete.

If there are other steps to follow, simply follow the instructions on your Window screen from the popup box if applicable. Since some dongles are not compatible with the latest Windows 7 OS, or the Mac PCs, you may have to visit the company web site to download drivers to use your dongle.

There is also the USB Bluetooth dongles. These dongles usually come with a CD for installation. Simply insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive and the computer starts the installation automatically. A wizard will appear on your Window screen. Choose “Next” when prompt to continue the installation. Bluetooth offers a Term of Use combined with a License Agreement. Click yes to accept, or “I agree.” When prompt insert your dongle into the port of our PC inlet port. The program will search for a connection and once it detects your device, a box will appear with product details. Click Next to continue and select the default files location of your choice. Click next each time you are prompted, and finally click Next to copy your program and install the dongle.
